Merrydancer Zahraa - born 25.03.06

Meet Zahraa - she is a chocolate silver Ocicat (73bs). Zahraa is our first breeding queen, and our only queen at the moment.

Zahraa is a good size cat, as Ocicats should be (medium to large, muscular and agile). She has wonderful eyes, very bright and expressive, slightly angled towards the ears on the outer edge. She has good sized ears, with the desired ear tufts, super muzzle, and a lovely thick, silky coat. I'm very lucky to have Zahraa, she is just the prettiest darn thing which is why she gets away with so much! I hope her kittens are as much like her in their looks and temperament.

Zahraa joined our family July 2006 at just 15 weeks old. She has become firm friends with Anbini and Billy our neuter Tonkinese cats. Owning two Tonks already we thought we knew it all, about all their little tricks and nothing could surprise us with our new kitten- well - we were wrong! Zahraa does the usual things our others do...and more. She loves to play fetch, but instead of sticking to the little scrunchy balls, or glitter balls, she will in fact fetch anything- from Jiffy bags to make up brushes, from socks to a catnip pouch she has had in the water bowl beforehand! Oh yes - she loves water too...that one I wasn't ready for. I think she had been with us a few days at the time - I heard my husband yelling from downstairs, 'you have to see this, this cats crazy'. And there was our little Zahraa up to her eyes in the deep water bowl paddling away with one of her balls. Of course the walls and floor were swimming by the time he found her, a quick mop up no damage done...but I had to mop up again half an hour later - she does love paddling so! Zahraa also loves to be high up as most Ocicats do. If  you pick her up she will climb to your shoulder and perch there like a parrot. If you are getting dressed, she might want to surprise you and climb up whilst you are doing this, thus adding a further 10 minutes to your dressing time. One thing Zahraa has taught us very well, is that she cannot play enough. On her own, with anything at all, or with you and her fishing toys. This li'l lady knows the meaning of fun! I can barely remember the odd quiet moments we had before her arrival. Chris & Derek - our home would just not be the same without her! ;)
